I am a Massage Therapist working at Lifelines Wellness Center in Champaign.

This is a career change for me. After several years as a stay at home mother to my son, Timothy Edward (born February 2000), I went back to school to Parkland College.

In my former life, I was a software developer, most recently working in the medium of Visual Basic. Before becoming a mom, I was a Project Manager at Strata Decision Technology, based in Champaign, Illinois. During my IT career, I also worked at the University of Illinois and USA-CERL, as well as freelancing as an xBase (FoxPro) programmer many, many years ago.

While at home, I did a significant amount of volunteer work for an organization called Mothers & More, which is working to support and advocate on behalf of mothers sequencing in and out of the paid workforce. This article may shed a little light on why I quit being a (well-paid) white collar geek and moved into a career helping people take care of their own health.
